Mongar Regional Referral Hospital was honored with the visit of Her Excellency SoWai Lyonpo Dasho Dechen Wangmo today. Earlier in the morning, Lyonpo launched the Health Flagship Program which is aimed at addressing the Gastric, Cervical and Breast Cancers.
It is one of the priority health program of the present government with a budget outlay of Nu. 1.1 billion fund by Government of India. Lyonpo highlighted on the significance of early detection, treatment and palliative care for all forms of cancers that has huge social, economic and human capital cost. As part of inaugural session, 19 patients were screened for stomach cancer by the team from JDWNRH and our own hospital team. The team from JDWNRH team will be here at our hospital for next 1 week performing the screening. Lyonpo also took opportunity to thank all the Healthcare workers for tireless works during the difficult year of covid pandemic and congratulated everyone in health fraternity for having received Druk Thuksay Medal from His Majesty as a testimony to our service. She also stressed that while we celebrate the award, we must live by and work further to fulfill the aspirations of His Majesty the King. After the program, Lyonpo paid a visit to the COVID-19 Isolation Center (erstwhile Royal Guest House) which will be converted into Maternal and Child Health Hospital with additional structures. Lyonpo shared her joy in upcoming Hospital which will be unique and a model hospital that will cater to the people of Eastern Dzongkhags. Towards the evening, Her Excellency met with the staff of MRRH, thanked all staff for their continued works, shared the government and Ministry’s plans and priorities for the health sector which was then followed by Q&A session. The Medical Superintendent on behalf of MRRH family felicitated Her Excellency for receiving Red Scarf from His Majesty the King which was followed by simple Khadar offering by the staff present.
