World Health Organization defines Medication adherence as the extent to which a person’s behavior (taking medication, following a diet, and /or executing life style changes) corresponds with agreed recommendations from a health care provider.

The main aims of the event were:

1. To assess adherence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) at ERRH.

2. To engage with patients and understand their experiences regarding medication adherence.

3. To raise awareness on challenges and importance for managing T2DM effectively.

Patients with T2DM were guided to voluntarily participate in a short survey “Moriskey Medical Adherence Scale (MMAS-8)”, the data collected is entered into ATLAS (Adherence Tool and Location Analytics System) which is an realtime online global platform to assess mediction adherence.

The information collected will help us understand the barriers to medication adherence and help improve strategies to offer better support individuals living with diabetes to improve their medication adherence leading to improved glycemic control and improved quality of life of diabetic patients.
